		<description>In England a company named NTL also tried consumption based billing. There was such outrage, customers were canceling
their service with NTL. Within ONE month NTL reversed their new billing policy. If EVERY TW customer effected by this new
billing scheme cancels their service, then it will hit TW where it truely hurts, their wallets. But it will take everyone biting the bullet and canceling service for it to be effective. Also, a supervisor named Iris Andrews is someone we can all call and complain too about this outrageous change in terms. We spoke to her last night for 30 minutes. Just call 336-584-1383 and get through to a representative, tell them you need to speek to Iris Andrews, and you should be connected shortly. If we dont stand together in this then TW will keep looking for new and inventative ways to charge us for services that we already pay out the wa-zoo for!

		<description>In  Western Europe we do have caps on our monthly bandwidth usage and it is accepted as a normal practice. 
There are not that many people anymore that have dial-up over here, except like you said, the ones that only check their mails, but they are a small minority.  
However, America and Canada are different in many ways, so you might escape capping for a while longer.

I will keep my thumbs up for you :-)</description>

If given a choice, people would skip TV spots because the vast majority of the time the spot isn&#039;t immediately &lt;strong&gt;relevant&lt;/strong&gt; to them. They have chosen to watch a TV show, not the TV spots. 

But when people watch web video content, they are &quot;opting in&quot;. By choosing to watch the web video, they are saying, &quot;yes this is relevant and helpful to me right now.&quot; 

Also, I should state more clearly that we&#039;re talking about web videos within business websites. This is the kind of web video content that is actively trying to convert visitors into customers. 

In that regard, you have much more freedom  have a conversation with an already interested person, rather quick 30 second pitches shoved in front of thousands while they wait for Amercan Idol to come back on. 

Beyond that, on the web, whenever people click on specific links or pages within your site, they are giving you loud and clear signals about what they are interested in. In that sense, web video has the opportunity to be much more customized in the kind of web video content that you offer them. 

When someone is clicking on a &quot;prices&quot; page, they are telling you exactly where their head is at, and it would behoove you to offer them a web video to address &quot;prices&quot;. 

When someone is clicking on an &quot;about us&quot; page, they are telling you that they&#039;re interested in gaining more familiarity and trust with the people/company offering the product/service.

I won&#039;t even get into all of the ways that a person can interact with web video content. That is easily a whole series of posts. We&#039;re just talking about the approach and focus of edited video footage right now. 

That being said, web video is still so new that most businesses opt for a single web video that hopefully &quot;does it all.&quot; That&#039;s better than nothing, but it doesn&#039;t play to the strengths of the online experience. 

It&#039;s like giving people a buffet when they said they wanted italian food. Sure, there may be scraps of lasagna and breadsticks hidden somewhere in the buffet, but if the customer is telling you exactly what they want, give it to them!</description>

I think most people really like the idea of their internet activity remaining relatively unbounded, and would mistrust the transition to a pay-per-megabyte-used model.  I recognize how someone could assume that since people are used to paying for each gallon of gasoline they burn driving somewhere, people should be happy to bring their wallet out for each byte they download.  

However, we can&#039;t forget that people HATE having to fill up  the tank, and as the price to drive somewhere goes up, the attractiveness also climbs for an unlimited internet to which one can escape.  If they don&#039;t like the limited use option that someone like Time Warner offers, rather than choosing to go without broadband altogether, I think we&#039;ll just see people switch to a hungrier provider that&#039;s willing to offer a pricing model that people prefer.</description>
